1. Community Guidelines & Expectations

1.1 Behavior & Conduct

AstroRP strictly prohibits discrimination, harassment, and bullying in any form. Racist remarks, bigotry, or similar offensive behavior are not tolerated, whether within AstroRP or in interactions with other communities. Discussions on politics, religion, and flags (national or otherwise) are also restricted. Additionally, deception towards staff, malicious impersonation, and falsification of evidence intended to harm others are strictly forbidden.
Explicit adult content of any kind is banned. Violators will receive one warning before a one-year ban is imposed. This applies to radio streams, media screens, and any sounds played through the microphone.

1.2 Advertisement Policy

Promoting unaffiliated gaming communities (including servers, Discords, or forums) within AstroRP is strictly forbidden. Any violations will result in a permanent ban in-game and on Discord.

1.3 Exploits & Unauthorized Software

Using exploits, external software, or console commands to gain an unfair advantage is not allowed. This includes auto-clickers, movement macros, and any other third-party programs that simulate in-game actions.

1.4 Use of Alternative Accounts

Using multiple accounts to evade punishments or gain an unfair advantage is strictly prohibited. Offenders risk a permanent ban on the secondary account and a full economic reset on their main account.

1.5 Real-world Transactions

Trading in-game currency, assets, VIP status, or similar items for real-world money or goods is not permitted. However, players may exchange items from the AstroRP web store (https://astroroleplay.online/) for in-game currency.

1.6 Language Requirement

AstroRP is an English-speaking community. Players must communicate in English within out-of-character chat, in-game voice communication, and on Discord.

1.7 Rule Compliance & Staff Authority

Staff members have the authority to interpret rules to ensure fairness. If you have concerns about a staff decision, submit a report via Discord. Do not attempt to enforce rules yourself. Staff decisions are final unless formally appealed.

1.8 Refund Policy

Refund requests are reviewed case-by-case by a Senior Moderator or higher. Client-side crashes are not eligible for compensation, but unexpected server-wide crashes and forced downtime may qualify.

2. General Gameplay Rules

2.1 Random Deathmatch (RDM)

RDM refers to unprovoked killings or attempts to kill other players and is strictly forbidden. All kills must be justified (e.g., raiding, issuing two prior warnings, etc.). Crossfire and accidental misclicks do not exempt a player from this rule.

2.2 New Life Rule (NLR)

Upon death, players must forget details from their previous life, except for friendships, residence, occupation, and finances. Returning to the location of death before three minutes have passed is not allowed unless the death occurred in a public street. Players cannot recall their killer or the circumstances of their death.

Exceptions:

  • Sewer Dwellers: NLR does not apply while in the sewers but applies if they die above ground.

  • Oil Refiners: NLR does not apply in designated mining areas but must be followed elsewhere.

  • Terror Attacks: If killed in a valid terror attack, players may return immediately as the RP scenario is considered over.

2.3 Roleplay Realism

Players must act in alignment with their in-game roles. For instance, a Gun Dealer must operate a gun shop and cannot enforce government laws. Custom Class player models do not impact this rule. Players should also prioritize preserving their lives and cannot change jobs mid-RP to avoid consequences or gain unfair advantages.

2. General Gameplay Rules

2.4 Spawn Area Regulations
The spawn area is designated as a safe zone where no roleplay (RP) interactions such as mugging, raiding, or killing are allowed. Spawn boundaries extend until after the two large tunnels on either side and the small tunnel leading to the fountain. Entities such as gun shelves, casino machines, or fruit slicers cannot be placed within this area. However, general rules still apply.

2.5 Prop Usage
Props must not be used to gain an unfair advantage. Prop climbing, prop blocking, or blocking NPCs and server entities with props is strictly prohibited.

2.6 Personal Entities & Trading
VIP and above printers, bots, and other personal entities cannot be sold, donated, or traded for in-game currency. Additionally, all bots are non-tradeable. All entities must be accessible via standard raiding mechanics and must not be hidden or placed out of reach.

2.7 Law Enforcement & Weapon Checks
Government officials may not conduct random weapon checks inside private properties without a valid warrant. In public spaces, law enforcement officers can conduct weapon checks if a player is violating perma-laws, specific laws set by the Mayor, or within a designated checkpoint outside the PD. Arrests and warrants must be based on a reasonable suspicion of illegal activity.

2.8 Fear RP
When being mugged or kidnapped, players must comply if they are at a disadvantage. Running away or fighting back is only permitted if:

  • The victim has friends who outnumber the attacker.

  • The victim was already holding a weapon before the RP event began.

  • A shot is fired or damage is inflicted, voiding Fear RP.

2.9 Mayor, Laws & Lockdowns
The Mayor has the authority to create and enforce laws, provided they are reasonable and do not contradict perma-laws. Unreasonable laws include those that encourage rule-breaking or create impossible conditions (e.g., outlawing walking).

Weapon laws do not apply on private property. Additionally, laws cannot enforce kill-on-sight (KOS) without an attempt to arrest first, unless the individual is violently resisting.

The Mayor can initiate a lockdown only for valid RP reasons, such as PD raids, assassination attempts, or terrorist threats. The lockdown must be adverted and can last a maximum of 10 minutes, with a cooldown of 10 minutes before another lockdown can be declared.

During a lockdown, law enforcement must give verbal warnings for civilians to go indoors. If ignored, the individual may be arrested. If met with violence, police may use lethal force. Government officials must be on keypads at all times for any PD defenses, and the Mayor has the right to order the removal of unnecessary defenses.

2.10 Scamming Policy
Scamming is defined as intentionally failing to uphold an agreed trade once one party has provided their goods or services. This includes trades involving weapons, skins, knives, CC credits, and DarkRP ranks. Scamming results in a trade or server ban.

Using the Unbox Trade menu for trades is recommended to prevent scams. Trades that violate server rules will not be protected under this policy. Hiding weapon shelf prices to mislead buyers will result in an economy wipe and a blacklist from all gun dealer jobs.

2.11 Stealing Rules
Players must advert "Steal" before attempting to take another player’s items, but only if they have a valid RP reason. A valid reason includes witnessing a player carrying meth or weed before attempting to steal. Stealing without justification will result in a warning.

2.12 Mayor Immunity
Newly elected Mayors have a five-minute immunity period during which they cannot be raided or assassinated. If a raid is already in progress when a new Mayor is elected, the Mayor is immune for the duration of the raid and cannot participate in combat.

3. Property/Building Rules

3.1 Building & KOS Signs

Building Signs exempt you from RP. This includes having any/using entities to produce money/entities. KOS signs serve the purpose of showing different rules for Kill on Sight on your property, bases are implied KOS if you are obviously attempting to raid it. You may show three KOS signs for your base, these must carry up to 3 legitimate and justifiable reasons - and must be the same reasons on all signs. Loitering, Unwanted, or Annoying etc. are examples of non-legitimate nor justifiable reasons. The KOS signs must follow 1.1 and cannot target specific players or groups.

KOS Signs must be placed in visible areas and must be formed of a legible font and colour with a minimal font-size lettering of 50. Bases may not impact the experience of other users or the roleplay effect of a location, your base may not funnel or force non-raiders to alter, or otherwise navigate around base-obstacles while they follow a traditional path, with the exception of a small walkway or building supports. You may also not use no-collided props as part of your base defences, and no-collided props in your base cannot be an opaque material/colour.

3.2 Keypad Fading Doors

You may have a maximum of 3 keypad-controlled (fading) doors that a raider must keypad crack to enter the base. These fading doors must have 0-second delay and open immediately. A raider must be able to access all items of value (e.g. printers, bitminers, meth etc.) by cracking no more than 3 keypads. Each keypad can control a maximum of one fading door. You may not hide keypads in an attempt to prevent access. You may prop block an entrance as long as there is at least one viable entrance.

3.3 Button Fading Doors (Shooting Windows)

You may not have any button-controlled fading doors that an attacker must use to enter the main base whilst raiding to slow them down, shooting windows and doors to small rooms/shelves within the base may be controlled by buttons. You may not hide buttons in an attempt to prevent access. You may only use a button to open/close fading doors, toggle must be enabled and the fading door must be open for a minimum of 3 seconds. You also may not have more than 3 buttons inside your base. Shooting windows/positions must allow the attacker to see your head/torso when you open the window or peek over your elevated position. You may use World-Glow to spot raiders through your window but this must open so both parties are visible when gunfire begins.

3.4 Fading Door Abuse (Doors & Entrances)

You may only use keypads/buttons to open and close fading doors. You may only have 3 keypad-controlled fading doors, opening for at least 5 seconds. You may not have more than one keypad or button on either side of the door, and each must be clearly identifiable.

3.5 Location

You may not base in or around the tunnels leading to spawn. You may base above other tunnels but your KOS sign must be at your front door not on your ramp; This applies to all buildings. You may not free-build i.e. on the road, or on the street. Unless, you are Hobo/Hobo King; then you are permitted to build on the sidewalk/pavement or within the fountain area as long as it is a small area and Purge is disabled. This is limited to 15 small props to set up a begging area. You may not build any of the tunnels around the map. You may only build around the fountain area as a hobo as inside are Spawn Points for the Purge. A staff member is also entitled to ask you to remove or edit a base if it violates any of the other building rules. Bases can be floating off the ground Must be accessible. You may only be allowed 1 base Per person unless you have 6 members and it is classed as a mega base therefore you may ONLY own 2 buildings as a whole.

3.6 Accessibility

You must be able to access the property on foot, without having to perform specific actions (IE: crouching/jumping), this includes bases that utilise world doors, sewer pipes, windows, ledges and using water to jump up onto a prop. Bases must not be disorientating or use invisible props, this includes blackout bases. Bases using the "Wire" material are allowed as long as they are not disorienting. The entrance to the base must be linear, not a maze designed with dead ends and without the use of zig-zags (so that a raider must move left and right to continue), or anything else designed to unfairly extend access to the base. Entry to your base must not contain more than 5 turns. You cannot shoot through one-way props. Camera and scanner entities must be able to be destroyed by players, meaning you cannot place a camera behind an invisible prop or within a prop or other entity.

3.7 Raiding/Defence

Bases must be designed in a way where both raiders and defenders can see each other and shoot each other.

One-way props and World-Glow are allowed, however, both parties of the raid must be able to see each other without any kind of distortion when firing.

Shooting windows must be at least the size of the 075x1x075 cube (See Rule 3.3 for more information/o on Shooting Windows).

You may not shoot through the map floors/walls/ceilings to try and kill any attackers during a raid, an attacker may blind fire through World and player props when raiding.

During a Raid, you're not allowed to edit your base at all or use explosives during a raid as a defender.

Shooting below is allowed but must follow the rule stated above. (No head glitching or unfair angles that conceal your head and upper torso from the raiders perspective). Defenders may shoot directly down the tunnel but must be completely visible at all times and not behind cover.

3.8 Pixel Perfect Bases

You may not use pixel-perfect bases, for example a really narrow gap a player must get through that is only a few pixels larger than the player to slow them down.

3.9 Checkpoints

Government checkpoints are allowed however they must be positioned in the vicinity of the PD and must have a path through them at all times. You can't have more than two 'turns' in a checkpoint (they must be quick and easy to walk through). The checkpoint must fit at least two players side by side to avoid blockages. Players are prohibited from adding charges to the entrance/exit of checkpoints.

3.10 Blocking areas of the map

You may not block off large areas of the map (e.g. industrial, residential, beach etc.) You may section off smaller dead ends without interfering with players RP. NPCs must be inaccessible from within the base. This rule can be looked over with permission from an admin.

3.11 Space

The distance between fading doors must support 2 players in both directions, this is best understood as 2x2 or 4 players in a box formation. This space must not be designed in a manner that funnels raiders. Funnelling is designing your base entry point to keep the raiders in a confined place and allowing gunfire to be directed to be head-on. (Refer to Rule 3.3)

3.12 Police Department

The Government may build a base encompassing the entire police department except for the lobby. The mayor may regulate access to such a base. Access prohibition must only be enforced if there is an apparent attempt to breach the defense, i.e. a PD raid. Using the shield to blow off any doors would classify you as raiding.

3.13 Bank

The only job permitted to build in the bank is the Banker, however with permission from the Banker OR if there is no banker online - the Government may build defences in the bank vault area, all building rules still apply.

The only thing that can be stored in the bank vault is printers.

The Bank Vault area is the only legal way to store Printers. Printers inside the Bank Vault area are not to be destroyed by Civil Protection as this directly affects both the Banker and his Guards' payroll.

Banker and Bank Security must be on ALL keypads however Civil Protection only needs to be on lobby keypads with restriction to the vault being allowed.

The only jobs allowed to base within the Bank Vault are Banker and Bank Guards. The government may enter the vault in the event of a security breach i.e. a Bank Raid.

3.13.1 AFK Blacklisted jobs

You may not go AFK as the following jobs; Banker or the Bank Guards, Mayor, Civil Protection (Including SWAT and TSF), Casino Manager/CCs with casino machines down (Unless machines are played), or Crypto Miner/Hacker (Unless Bots and Rack are present).

3.14 Rooftop bases

You can build on the rooftop of a single building, this cannot extend to another rooftop or a tunnel nearby if applicable. If someone owns the building below you must have their permission. The base cannot overhang onto the street below with the only exception to this is the walkway leading to it and must be easily accessible on foot, e.g. you cannot have an unnecessarily long walkway leading from the street or another building or force players to parkour, crouch, jump or navigate a narrow/difficult pathway to reach the entrance of your base.

3.15 Traps

You may not have traps in your base e.g. floors/ditches that players fall through or get stuck in when raiding. Players must also be able to exit the same way they came in (e.g. no slopes with steep ledges that prevent their retreat).

3.16 Megabase

For a megabase to be considered "legal" it must have at least 6 players inside of a single party when it's created and be approved by a Senior Moderator or above. Megabases are limited to 15 players within the base and all members are required to be part of the same party. Megabases are allowed but each base owner/base user has to keep their entities within their own base/building. You cannot pre-build the base. Megabases require 6-players at the time of construction and require a Senior Moderator or above approval to build location. A Megabase is defined by how large the player has created their base and if they’ve taken up one or more buildings/rooftops, limiting them up to three buildings. Megabases cannot block off a large/full section of the map. (See 3.10). The base is also classed as a megabase if you have 6+ people basing with you. You only need approval for a megabase using multiple buildings. This also applies if a player has taken up a large amount of space that is usually a public space which would mean the area around Territory Flags, Crypto ATMs, and other map entities. It must be stated in your KOS sign that you are a mega-base and formatted in clear and legible lettering. A maximum of 5 megabases can be approved at one time, this does not include single-structure megabases.

3.17 Street Vendors

Vendor Jobs, for example, Gun Dealers, may set up their own Street Vendor stands. Stands must not block any access to part of the map, road, building, door or be outside of Spawn. This extends to the small and large Tunnels within spawn. Gun Shelves, for example, must be placed either standalone or within a purchasable building. Casino Machines must be accessible to the Public. Casino Machines cannot be standalone. (Refer to 2.5). However, you may choose to have a High Roller area.

4.1 Advert Usage

Players must use the /advert command for certain RP actions, including raiding, assisting in a raid, mugging, stealing, kidnapping, or issuing warnings. Advert messages must clearly describe the intended action, e.g., /advert Mug: Drop 30k or die.

  • Government officials must advert when performing a warrant or entering a building for a search.

  • Hitmen must advert “Hit Raid” when raiding to eliminate a contract target but may only kill the target and must not destroy player-owned entities.

  • Adverts must remain in the default yellow color and cannot use effects that make them unreadable (e.g., strobe, rainbow).

4.2 Player Warnings

Players may only warn others for justifiable reasons, such as refusing to leave private property. Warnings must be given twice, with a 5-second gap between each. If ignored after the second warning, the warned player becomes KOS.
Note: Police and Government officials are not required to advert warnings before taking action.

4.3 Evading RP (LTAP)

Leaving the game to avoid an RP situation or punishment is prohibited. This includes using alternate accounts to bypass punishments.

4.4 Raiding Rules

  • Players must actively attempt to rob or free prisoners once the raid begins.

  • This can only be done once every 10 minutes

4.7 Pointless Raids

  • Raiding an empty base is prohibited.

  • If a base appears occupied but is found empty mid-raid, the raid must end immediately.

4.8 Countering RP Events

  • Only Criminals and Law Enforcement may counter RP events.

  • Valid countering situations include: stopping a raid, kidnapping, mugging, or assisting party/gang members.

  • Counters must be adverted.

  • Law enforcement does not need to advert countering actions.

4.9 Terror Attacks

  • A terror attack may only be performed once every 20 minutes.

  • Must be adverted outside before initiating inside a building.

  • Cannot be done inside casinos or private properties.

  • Taliban members may only raid PD and must be with Osama.

  • Terror attacks last a maximum of 10 seconds.

  • An attack ends when the terrorist dies or adverts that it is over.

  • Explosives (IEDs, C4, Suicide Vest) cannot be used before adverting terror.

4.10 Mic Spam

  • Only Hobos and Street Performers may mic spam.

  • Players may not follow or harass others with mic spam.

  • Music, sound clips, or soundboards are allowed but must not be excessively loud.

  • Playing music with slurs, offensive language, or 18+ content is forbidden and will result in a mute.

4.11 Territory Flags

  • Gangs defending a flag may only KOS within the Red Zone.

  • Combat must take place inside the zone only.

4.12 Red Zones

  • Players inside the Red Zone may KOS other players inside the zone.

  • Shooting from outside into the Red Zone is not allowed.

  • If a player enters a Red Zone and leaves, they remain vulnerable for 1 minute.

  • Breaking NLR to defend a captured flag is not allowed.

4.13 Defending Other Players

  • Players may not kill someone just because they attacked another player.

  • Defense is only valid if:

    • The attacker is in the same party or gang.

    • The player was basing with the victim and had entities in the base.

    • The player used /advert Friend Defense.

  • Friend Defense is not valid if the person being defended was the initial aggressor.

5. The Purge

5.1 Purge Rules

  • During the Purge, RDM and RP events do not require adverts.

  • NLR does not apply during the Purge.

5.2 Government Actions

  • The Government's duty is to uphold the law and protect civilians.

  • Law enforcement must follow orders from higher-ranking officials (e.g., SWAT Leader, Police Chief, Mayor).
